People are frighted to join the Stem Cell Donor Register thinking it's painful, but things have changed and I promise it’s so easy, all you need to do is:
- Go onto their website www.dkms.org.uk/en
- Check your eligibility
- Order a swab kit in the post
- Once it arrives take a swab of your mouth
- Put it in the free returns envelope and back in the post
- Your details will then be added to the blood stem cell donor register for people all over the world who need a genetic match to get a second chance at life. It doesn't mean you need to travel, someone does that bit for you!
- Wait to become a potential Stem Cell Donor and Save a Life.
Every 20 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma. Only around 30% of those people find a matching donor within their family. You can help.
